Information Slips Deadline: T4/T5
Business must file information slips such as T4s and T5s by Feb 29 of each year.
Last day to contribute to an RRSP to get a deduction on your 2016 tax return is March 1, 2017.
Personal Return (T1) Due Date
Personal returns should be filed by April 30th of the following year. If a taxpayer owes money, then the payments must be made by this date to avoid any late charges and interest on the balance due.
Corporate Return (T2) Due Date
A corporation return must be filed within six months of the fiscal year-end of the corporation. The balance due still needs to be paid within two months of the year-end and three months for Canadian Controlled Private corporations.
Source deductions withheld from employees’ pay cheques must be remitted to the CRA along with the employer’s contributions by the 15th of the following month.
GST/HST is due within three months of the fiscal year end for annual filers and within a month for those who file on a quarterly basis. If you are an annual filer you may have to pay equal quarterly installments, which are due within one month after the end of each of your fiscal quarters.
